Vivid Purple Lipstick.. A SHOWDOWN!

Good evening my lovely Zombies!

One of the hottest shades of lipstick/lip gloss right now is intense, vivid red based purples with blue undertones, such as MAC "Heroine". Because "Heroine" was limited edition, I went on the hunt for lip products in drugstores that might be similar to "Heroine" for the people who missed out on it. I found 4 pretty similar colors and one that could be a dead on dupe.

Here is my showdown!

The contenders are:
 MAC "Heroine"- limited edition
Maybelline "Brazen Berry"- Vivids collection
Covergirl "Divine"- core collection
Maybelline "Lavender Voltage"- limited for Fall 201
Maybelline "Vision in Violet"- The Elixirs collection

Don't mind the wonky top of "Brazen Berry". My kid twisted it into the lid. :/

Swatches!

As you can clearly see, right off the bat, "Lavender Voltage" takes the cake in terms of being a pretty dead on dupe to "Heroine." Heroine is matte, where as "Lavender Voltage" is a creme and doesn't last as long on the lips. But this would be a very comparable lipstick for those of you who missed out on or can not afford "Heroine."

"Vision in Violet" is pretty close as well, but it's a gloss. I could see pairing it with "Heroine" for an intense combination!

It's quite fun to have all of these lippies swatched next to each other to compare the similarities and differences. In terms of staying power, "Heroine" and "Lavender Voltage" take the win, but "Brazen Berry" is so lush feeling on the lips and applies so evenly. There is no doubt ALL of these lippies are bright and fun and perfect for a purple lover such as myself.

I purchased these lip products at MAC, CVS, and Walgreen. Go, go forth and buy all the purple!

Guest Blogger: Makeup Fancy's "Red Queen"!

Zombies!

For funsies, I asked Emily from Makeup Fancy Blog to do a vampy guest post for MZ. What Emily came up blew me away!

Check it out!

Hey everyone, this is Emily of Makeup Fancy Blog; today I'm honored to be on Wendi's awesome blog and to share this special look with her followers! Before we get to the goods, here's a little bit about myself:

I started Makeup Fancy Blog a few years ago when I was first getting into makeup; I began watching youtube tutorials and reading other beauty blogs and really enjoyed it, so I decided to do it myself. I started out with a few makeup looks, which were pretty sad back then, as were my photography skills, lol. I had barely any makeup- just some assorted products from MARK (because I was a rep), and an 88 eyeshadow palette. My looks were pretty basic but I had fun doing them. Over the years my collection has grown, as has my experience; however I still like to experiment, play, and challenge myself to improve. I'm fond of using bright colors, and love doing things that are classic with a twist of my own.
Besides makeup looks, I also like to post product swatches, hauls, and reviews. My blog is a hobby so I do it when I have time; I'm not always consistent, but I try not to worry too much about it and just do what I enjoy. :)

Now, on to the makeup! I'm calling this look "Red Queen", which is not very imaginative but I'm not great with creative names. ;) I used products from Morgana Cryptoria, Darling Girl Cosmetics, BFTE Cosmetics, and a few others; you can check out more pics and products below. Hope you enjoy!♥

-Lime Crime Eyeshadow Helper
-Morgana Cryptoria eyeshadow in Hemogoblin (red on lid and blended above crease)

-BFTE Cosmetics eyeshadow in Gun Metal (silver on tear duct)

-Maybelline The Rocket mascara in Blackest Black
-Urban Decay Naked Basics palette (Faint and Crave on brow)
-Cover Girl clear mascara (on brow)
-Wet N' Wild Coverall foundation in 815 Fair

Yeah, check this girl out. She has some mad skills and I just love her eyeballs.  Thanks Emily! :D

Happy Friday everyone!

Maybelline Summer 2013 Color Tattoo Eyeshadow!

Happy Monday Zombies!

I don't know about you, but my weekend went by way too fast! I hate it when that happens. ;)

Today, I thought I'd show you a few of the new Maybelline Color Tattoo's for Summer 2013. These claim to all have a duochrome finish about them. I don't have them all, but I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the ones I do own. I'm hearing through the grapevine that these are hard to come by already. So far, I've seen them at my local Walgreens, ULTA, and CVS. I'm really surprised the displays are only offering a limited amount of each color though.

A quick look I did using Seashore Frosts over Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer.

My thoughts:

My two favorites of this group are Seashore Frosts and Blue Paradise. Seashore Frosts DOES have an amazing duochrome about it. And it does show up when you're wearing it. It's a lovely shade that lasts a really long time on the eyelids. Blue Paradise has a gorgeous pink/purple/blue shine to it in the jar, but it doesn't really translate to the eye, other than being a beautiful shiny soft blurple. Shady Shores is much more yellow than the jar picture poses it to be and it has an amazing green sheen to it! It's quite sheer, but would be great as a highlight color. Icy Mint is just that, an icy, shiny, light mint. I saved Lavish Lavender for last because sadly, it's my least favorite. While being a pretty shiny lavender color, it's sheer and didn't want to apply evenly to my eyelid. It also creased after an hours wear (I did not have that problem with Seashore Frosts). I love the sheen to it, but it does not stand out to me as anything special. :/

I feel like this collection is a kick up since the last batch of Color Tattoo's and I think the colors are light and fun for Summer. I'll have to play around more with them to determine if the other colors crease like Lavish Lavender. I'm pretty impressed all in all.

The Color Tattoo's range in price, but they are under $8.00 USD.

Have you been able to snag any of the new Color Tattoos?

*products in this post were purchased by me.

More Pink Lipstick SWATCHES!

Hi Zombies!

I decided to show off a few more of my favorite lippies. I seem to have a plethora of pinks and magenta's with blue shifts. So, I decided to just swatch them to see just how similar they all look. I found, that though some are similar, there are considerable differences. Check em' out for yourself!

I had to amp up the contrast on this pic, because my camera didn't want to photograph it. There is very much a blue shift with this lippie.

I was able to snag this bad boy from Rach at The Beauty Spot!

Do you own any of these lipstick? Which are your favorites?

Who says they can't go together...LOTD!

Happy ass Sunday Zombies!

Earlier in the week I asked for two colors that normally shouldn't go together. I got a lot of *interesting* suggestions, but my favorite was:

Angie Byrd: Green and Red, not that they don't go together, but when they do it's too christmasy. Do a look with green and red that doesn't bring the thought of christmas.

So, I decided to go with green and red. I did one earlier this week and it DID look like Christmas. Actually, it looked more like the Grinch. lol So, I brightened it up and LOVED the way this turned out!

The Goods:

UDPP in Sin all over lid
NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk
MAC "Blue Flame" (from Style Black) blended above crease and into crease
MAC "Steamy" applied to middle of lid and swept into lash line
Aromaleigh "Strawberry Despair" applied to inner corner of lid and swept into lash line
Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner in Blackest Black
Maybelline Falsies mascara in Black

Cheeks:
MAC "Gentle" Mineralize Blush

Lips:
Rimmel "Just So"

What do you think? Does it remind  you of Christmas?
