Impulse Cosmetics Review and SWATCHES!

Happy ass Saturday Zombies!

Today, I have a review for on Impulse Cosmetics, an up and coming indie cosmetics company that is  Etsy based. A few weeks ago, someone posted a picture of Narcissa eyeshadow from this company in my makeup group and I snatched it up immediately!

My package arrived in just a few short days from ordering- and even contained a few extra samples to try out. Everything was bubble wrapped and the full sized jar was shrink wrapped and had a sifter label.

I received samples of:

Mumble, Sovereign, Davy Jones, Alchemy, Penny Serenade, Valkyrie, Flicker, The Fritz, Hemoglobin, Bellatrix, and Crush in addition to my full sized Narcissa.

All the samples in a row!

Full sized Narcissa!

Lovely, lovely swatches!

Descriptions per website:

Narcissa is a silky, matte violet/purple with a pink undertone that flashes into lime/teal green with green and teal shimmer.
Hemoglobin is a bright red eyeshadow with a metallic finish and gold shimmer.
Flicker is a midtoned gold, loaded with gold and silver shimmer
Mumble is a mid-toned violet with a frosty blue color shift.
Crush is a duochrome pink that flashes into aqua/teal with teal sparkles.Alchemy is a duochrome teal with a dark base and gold, silver, and blue shimmers.
The Fritz: did not locate on the site
Davy Jones: did not locate on the site
Valkyrie has a black base that transforms into a cross between lime and emerald green.
Penny Serenade is a dark, grapey purple with a sapphire blue color shift.
Bellatrix is a silky, dark magenta pink that flashes into lime/teal green with green and teal shimmer.
Sovereign is a silky, matte purple loaded with gold shimmer.

Ok, so how ridiculously AMAZING is Bellatrix? In the baggie it looked pretty enough, but once I swatched it, my jaw dropped. I'm honestly not sure I own a color like this, and that's hard to come by. It's hands down my favorite of this lot.  Penny Serenade is an amazing grape purple with a blue sheen- it's the perfect Blurple color. I also adore the vampy and intense sheen/feel of Alchemy, the light lavender and blue feel of Mumble, and the intense gold sparkle in Sovereign. Flicker is a gorgeous light gold with tons of sheen. I just can't get over the intensity of these shades. They are bright, pigmented, smooth to apply, creamy, and so blend-able.

Full sized shades from Impulse Cosmetics are $3.99 for a 5 gram jar, containing roughly 1/2 tsp of product or you can choose 5 samples for $4.50. Samples contain 1/8 tsp of product in each baggie. The owner of Impulse does not normally put the glittery lids on all the full sized eyeshadow (it's exclusively for the Glam Glue primer base) but she figured I might like the glittery touch. Of course, I did. ;)

All of the products at Impulse Cosmetics are handmade and hand-blended. The Cosmetic Glitter is eye safe, unless noted otherwise on the listings on their site. I can tell great care was taken in creating the shades I received. I can not WAIT to do looks with these bad boys. You can also stay informed of new and exciting events on the Impulse Cosmetics Facebook page HERE.

Do you see any colors you can't wait to get your hands on?

The Rhinstone Housewife "Man Soap" review featuring Ben!

Good evening Zombies!

I have a fun post for you tonight. A little while back, I received a very interesting product to review for the blog. A soap for the masculine senses...the 'Man Soap' from The Rhinestone Housewife.

*Please click images for maximum awesome!

Per the website:

You know what men need? They need MAN SOAP. That's right MAN SOAP. No frills here just good old soap wrapped simply and filled with MANLY stuff.

This product is VEGAN.

Website Continued:
Ingredients include:

Palm Oil (from sustainable source): Antioxidant; Improves life of soap bar
Olive Oil: Humectant, draws moisture to skin
Castor Oil: Easily absorbed, moisturising, improves lather
Irish Stout: Nourishes skin, improves lather

Scented with essential oils of cedarwood, patchouli and orange.

Packaged with handmade labels, allowing the soap to "breathe" and enhancing its rustic appearance.

Handmade in Ireland according to strict EU cosmetic guidelines using the hot process method.

Ingredients: Sodium Olivate, Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Palmate, Sodium Castorate, Irish Stout, Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana) Bark Oil, Sweet Orange (Citrus aurantium dulcis) Peel Oil, Patchouli (Pogostemom patchouli) Oil, *Limonene, *Linalool
*Naturally present in essential oils

Packaging:

Look at this beautiful smelly bar of awesome! When I opened this soap, I immediately thought of an Irish Soda bread that Ben makes, mixed with a beer cheese fondue that we've made in the past. It's a weird combo to think of, but go with it.

I gave this to my husband Ben to try out. This man is NOT a frilly/girly scent person at all. I'm lucky that he puts on a scented deodorant daily. It's an amazing smell on the skin and lingered on Ben for quite some time. For him to willingly use a scented body product and enjoy the experience was awesome for me!

For the sake of this review, he agreed to use the Man Soap and give me his absolutely honest opinions, which he wrote up for everyone to read.

"Man Soap" by Neb!
Man not need soap.
Soap smell girly. Like flowers.
Wife give man, MAN SOAP. Man apprehensive.
Man smell MAN SOAP. MAN SOAP not smell so girly.
Smell like wood. And leather. Little like beer.
Beer!
Manly smells.
Man approve of smell.
Man use soap.
Smell makes wife of man happy. Happy wife = happy man.
MAN SOAP do good.
Get more MAN SOAP.

The only complaint Ben had was when his Man Soap was gone! Yes, he used the entire bar!

Man Soap is $6.75  for a 4 oz bar from The Rhinestone Housewife website. I would get any man in your life a bar of this not only for his sake, but for yours too. Or hell, by yourself a bar!

Notoriously Morbid Cosmetics! Review and SWATCHES!

Happy Thusday Zombies!

Today, I have for you swatches from a new and upcoming indie cosmetic company called Notoriously Morbid Cosmetics! I was given the opportunity to review a few eyeshadow from their core line.

I received my samples with a cute letter on the above letterhead.

The samples arrived in baggies. There was a ton of product in the baggies however. Samples are $1.50 in the Notoriously Morbid store.

Descriptions from webstore:
Welcome to Vinnland: A semi matte dark green that borders on going black. Still packed with light green sparkles
Andorian: A shiny gray blue with an icy duochrome.
Doc Brown: A glorious dark brown with copper and gold sparkles, blends out brown with a rose tint.
Zinthos: A dark grey purple with blue and pink sparkles.
Silence: Silence a very dark grey boarding on black except this bad baby has a crap load of sparkles to lighten your eyes!
Mint to Die For: A semi matte mint for an added twisted classic look.
Morgana: A beautiful purple that is very deceiving, it goes on blue with a purple duochrome.
Kilgharrah: A deep rich brown with gold and green sparkles and a green duochrome.
Neno: A dark metallic brown with lots of wow factor!

Back of baggie- ingredients

Front of baggie- labels have eyeshadow name and disclaimers

The swatches! (Please click images for maximum awesome.)

Do you see Morgana? DO YOU SEE IT?! It's a beautiful blue/purple (blurple) with a fantastic sheen to it. It is by far my favorite of the lot. Andorian comes in a close second because it's a beautiful teal shade- and semi duochrome. I also adore Zinthos- a lovely light purple with sparkles and Welcome to Vinnland- deep green with TONS of sparkle! Most of the samples I received have lots of sparkle and shine except for Mint to Die For- which is a matte mint green. :D Each color really does have a life and personality of it's own.

I'm really excited about this company. Not only are the shades super pigmented and fun, a lot of them are Doctor Who (and other geek fandom) related! A full sized 5 gr jar from Notoriously Morbid is $5.50.All shades are hand blended and nothing is repackaged- as per the owner. I agree that the shades are unique and adhere wonderfully to a sticky base or wear nicely on their own. (I use Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy for swatching.) Notoriously Morbid can also be found on Facebook HERE.

I highly suggest everyone *at least* run and purchase Morgana, especially if you are a purple lover such as myself. :D

Exclusive "Space Prostitute Set" from Geek Chic Cosmetics!

Good afternoon Zombies!

I'm pretty excited about today's post! A little while back Jeanine (better known as Hottie McNaughty) started her very own website called The Rhinestone Housewife which offers a variety of hand made cosmetics and bath and body goodies! I was lucky enough to be asked to review the "Space Prostitute Set" which was created by Geek Chic Cosmetics exclusively for The Rhinestone Housewife!

Are you ready to see the awesome? Me too! (Make sure you click each image for maximum awesome!)

The pretty Rhinestone Housewife card!

The jars are standard 5 gram jars which hold about 1 gram of product. Each jar was shrink wrapped and had a sticker over the sifter holes. I really like the care in detail on the jars- right down to the cool fonts and designs.

The standout! Meteor Madame lip gloss is hot. It's a beautiful and shiny rose colored gloss. I adore it.

Swatches of the entire set.

Descriptions per the website:

Cosmic Cathouse: described as a blackened antique gold with silver sparkles
Pangalactic Painted Lady: described as the perfect robin's egg blue with a lush satin sheen
This is the perfect robin's egg blue with a lush satin sheen. - See more at: http://www.therhinestonehousewife.com/products/product-detail.php?iid=320#sthash.1jciRYke.dpuf
Oldest Profession in the Universe: described as a nude beige/pink with just the right amount of sparkle
Meteor Madame: based on the Pantone Honeysuckle color with a high gold sheen and sparkle

My thoughts:
I feel like the descriptions from the website are spot on. I adore Oldest Profession as it's a wonderful highlight color for my skin tone and will become my go-to highlight shade. Cosmic Cathouse is a wonderful gold and very smooth and pigmented. Pangalactic Painted Lady was a little intimating at first, but once applied, it  blends down to a pretty light blue. It will be fun to come up with a fun look to pair this one with! Each eyeshadow color was smooth, blend-able and a dream to apply. Meteor Madame has been on my lips for 2 days straight. I'm in love with this lip gloss. It has just the right amount of shine and color to make it wearable ALL THE DAYS! It's gorgeous!

I love the navigation of TRH's website. It's a simple layout and easy to read! The descriptions are awesome and from what I can tell spot on! It's a fun, pretty site with exciting products to discover!

The eyeshadow and lip gloss can be purchased separately at $7.00 for the eyeshadow (each) and $6.00 for the lip gloss or you can save $5.00 by purchasing the entire set at $22.00! It's a fun set with fun names and gorgeous colors so I just say buy the entire set! ;)

Have you purchased anything from The Rhinestone Housewife?

Maybelline Summer 2013 Color Tattoo Eyeshadow!

Happy Monday Zombies!

I don't know about you, but my weekend went by way too fast! I hate it when that happens. ;)

Today, I thought I'd show you a few of the new Maybelline Color Tattoo's for Summer 2013. These claim to all have a duochrome finish about them. I don't have them all, but I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the ones I do own. I'm hearing through the grapevine that these are hard to come by already. So far, I've seen them at my local Walgreens, ULTA, and CVS. I'm really surprised the displays are only offering a limited amount of each color though.

A quick look I did using Seashore Frosts over Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer.

My thoughts:

My two favorites of this group are Seashore Frosts and Blue Paradise. Seashore Frosts DOES have an amazing duochrome about it. And it does show up when you're wearing it. It's a lovely shade that lasts a really long time on the eyelids. Blue Paradise has a gorgeous pink/purple/blue shine to it in the jar, but it doesn't really translate to the eye, other than being a beautiful shiny soft blurple. Shady Shores is much more yellow than the jar picture poses it to be and it has an amazing green sheen to it! It's quite sheer, but would be great as a highlight color. Icy Mint is just that, an icy, shiny, light mint. I saved Lavish Lavender for last because sadly, it's my least favorite. While being a pretty shiny lavender color, it's sheer and didn't want to apply evenly to my eyelid. It also creased after an hours wear (I did not have that problem with Seashore Frosts). I love the sheen to it, but it does not stand out to me as anything special. :/

I feel like this collection is a kick up since the last batch of Color Tattoo's and I think the colors are light and fun for Summer. I'll have to play around more with them to determine if the other colors crease like Lavish Lavender. I'm pretty impressed all in all.

The Color Tattoo's range in price, but they are under $8.00 USD.

Have you been able to snag any of the new Color Tattoos?

Milani Naturally Chic Shadow Eyez Eyeshadow Pencils! SWATCHES!

Good evening Zombies!

I have a great post for you, involving Milani and some kick ass new Shadow Eyez pencils. I can already tell you're drooling, so let's just move along shall we?

Milani has released 6 new Shadow Eyez, all in neutral shades, but with a kick! These pencils are amazing. Each and every single one was creamy, smooth, and super pigmented. I'm very impressed, even MORE impressed than I was with the first batch of Shadow Eyez. Milani seriously has my heart these days!

New colors:
Black Ink: matte finish
Espresso Lane: matte finish
Almond Cream: matte finish
Golden Bronze: metallic finish
Cafe Au Lait: matte finish
Sand Dunes: metallic finish

**Be sure to click images for a closer look!

The packaging.

Back of package with ingredients.

I am in LOVE with Golden Bronze and Sand Dunes. Black Ink will make an amazing black base to layer color over. I can not believe how awesome these new shades are. The biggest selling point for me is that they last a LONG time once applied. The dry down and do not budge, unlike some bases that stay at bit tacky. These bad boys dry completely.

These shades are limited edition (sad, I know) and will retail for $6.99 (may vary from location) at participating, CVS, Target, Walgreens, Walmart, Kmart, and from the Milani website itself.

Have you been able to snag some of these shades? What are your favorite colors?

Milani ColorSTATEMENT Plums and Berries lipstick, SWATCHES!

Zombies!

I'm excited to present to you the new Milani COLORstatment lipstick in plums and berries. Milani has just recently changed their lipstick packaging and it looks so very classy (and shiny) now! The lipstick formula is also absolutely amazing and oh so pigmented! My swatches are only ONE swipe of the lipstick! This is by FAR my favorite collection of colors from the new formulated lippies. They are all so gorgeous and totally up my alley.

(As always, please click images to view maximum awesome!)

Everything arrived from Milani in this adorable lip case. It strangely reminds me of my lips. hehe

Inside the pretty purple Satin?

Breakdown of colors/formula:
Plumrose: Cream
UptownMauve: Cream
Chilled Brandy: Shimmer
Violet Volt: Metallic
Raspberry Rush: Metallic
Sangria: Matte
Black Cherry: Cream

Lipliner

I adore Chilled Brandy. It's probably my favorite of this lot, followed closely by Uptown Mauve, Plumrose (which is so creamy and pigmented!) and Violet Volt. The Fuchsia lip liner is incredibly creamy and lasts a really long time! Being that Milani is a drugstore brand, I'm really impressed with these lippies. They are on par with more of the higher end lipstick I own, if not more pigmented and creamy. There is a slight fruity smell to them, but in my opinion, it's not terribly overbearing, and I can't stand smelly lip products. Once again, I'm really impressed and love all the pretty colors in this lot.

Milani COLORstatement lipstick can be purchased at participating CVS, Target, Walgreens, Walmart, Kmart, and from the Milani website itself. The new COLORstatment lipstick retail for $5.49 online, but will differ depending on where you purchase them.

Have you snagged a new plum or berry Milani COLORstatement lipstick yet? What colors are catching your eye?
