Do you smell that? In the air? Christmas is almost here! AHHH!
I was recently given the opportunity to review two products from Rimmel London! I am super excited because I'm was able to try out and review Rimmel's Stay Matte foundation (to match my Stay Matte power) and Rimmel's new Lash Accelerator mascara.
I wasn't disappointed and these two products really have launched Rimmel into being my favorite drug store brand. And NO I am not saying that because I was sent free stuff. I am saying that because I love their lipsticks.....and, well, take a look for yourself!

Rimmel's Stay Matte Clarifying Matte Foundation
I am not generally an "oily" person but I do notice that my normal foundation seems to fade after a few hours. I'm hoping the matte formulation in this foundation will do the trick. I've also been having breakout's lately and my skin hasn't felt so good, so I'm hoping this will help that too.
Per package:
"Shine control formula for up to 12 hours matte coverage. With SkinPure (tm) Complex for a visibly purified completion and gentle botanical extract to help sooth sensitive skin. Oil free. Non-comedogenic. Non-acnegenic. Fragrance free. Paraben free."
I noticed right off the bat that this foundation does not carry an odd smell, in fact it's pretty much scentless. It's also very lightweight and was way to blend into my skin. And didn't leave the scary line where neck/face meets.
I tend to like the bottles that squeeze like this one. Seems a little more hygienic to me and is just what I prefer.

I actually like this formula over Cover Girl's liquid foundations and it's just a bit cheaper. Rimmel Stay Matte foundation retails for $5.00 to $7.00 (USD) depending on where you purchase it.
So, I put it to the test today using these two products:

Here is my ugly mug before any makeup. I have on just a light moisturizer.

And here I am after putting on foundation. Again, I am only wearing the foundation, a light lip balm, and mascara.

It's a bit blurry, but you can see that the foundation does pull off a matte finish. It actually absorbed well into my skin before the finishing powder. But once the powder was applied, my face felt light and non greasy. As I sit here after an hour of editing pictures and posting this, my face feels so fresh. I really love this foundation.
Rimmel's Lash Accelerator mascara:

Lash Accelerator comes in a black tube with a lime green lid. I do like the packaging. The wand was basic- see below. Yes, it's black, but the flash on my camera increased the white and makes the wand look Grey.

*EDIT* 12/22/2010- I wore this mascara all day today and did have an allergic reaction to this mascara. My eyes gummed and became bloodshot and red. They were also very irritated all day. I can no longer recommend this exact mascara. I do not have sensitive eyes and I did not use any product on my eyes that I have not used before. I am super saddened by this because I was hoping for a "new favorite"!
I did notice right away that this mascara made my eyelashes longer. Per the package Lash Accelerator claims to make your lashes appear 80% longer instantly and 117% longer in 30 days because of Grow Lash Complex (tm) which is in the mascara. With continued use, lashes not only look longer, but also lusher and more numerous.
I am going to take the 30 challenge and see if this mascara delivers. It's very lightweight on the lashes and didn't smear or clump too much. I decided to compare Rimmel's Lash Accelerator to my favorite mascara Maybelline Falsies. Both are in "Black."
Here is my nekkid eye. GAHROSS!
Here is the same eye with Rimmel's Lash Accelerator. (BAZINGA!)

And here is the other eye with Maybelline Falsies mascara

I see a noticeable length difference in that Lash Accelerator made my eyelashes longer, but Falsies made them fuller. I think both of these can go head to head and it's your preference in which brand you prefer. Lash Accelerator retails between $7.00 and $10.00 (USD) depending on where you purchase it.
So Zombies! Would you try or have you tried either of these products? Rimmel does create great products!
Oh, also, would you like to see more of these types of posts?
*both products were sent to me for free for review purposes only*
I've tried the mascara and it's okay, I found it to be a little too wet and hard to apply for me.
ReplyDelete"So Zombies! Would you try or have you tried either of these products? Rimmel does create great products!"
ReplyDeleteI will when they stop testing on animals. :(
@Skulda: I wasn't aware of that, but these companies also test on animals:
ReplyDelete-L'Oreal
-CoverGirl
-Max Factor
-Mabyelline
-Olay
I did see a disclaimer that they try not to test at all, but have to it IF it's necessary. I'm sure there will come a time in the near future that they won't HAVE to at all. I don't see a need for it any longer.
When I read "to match my Stay Matte power," I thought, wow, what a strange superpower. I would have chosen the ability to fly, personally.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin'.
It's possible I should make this my last egg nog for a while.
I have the mascara, and I do like it alot. But then again, I have one or two of their other mascaras as well. But I think I like this one the best.
ReplyDeleteThe foundation looks awesome. I think both mascaras look great, the Rimmel one is just more POW! though XD
ReplyDeleteHi girls, I found a way to get free Rimmel lip gloss samples.

That foundation really looks good on you. I appreciate you posting this because I get nervous buying drugstore foundation. I always get this vibe that it's going to suck. BUT this sucket not! I have the Falsies mascara and I like it, if the wand were stiffer, no not a joke about my ex bf...har har. Really tho, this helps and I may take a second look at Rimmel after this.
ReplyDeleteRE: @Skulda
ReplyDeleteYus I know! Thank the Gods for Drugstore brands that don't test and for small companies on the interwebs!
xoxo
Shame about the mascara. I think my sis uses the foundation though, I might have to give it ashot one time.
