Zombies!
Late yesterday afternoon, I got a wild hair up my arse and decided I really wanted to go back to my white blond hair. Of ALL the hair colors I've experimented with lately, I feel the blond suits me the best. Usually, bleaching hair is such a daunting thought, especially if you have color treated hair already. I won't lie, bleach is a hair killer and can leave your hair dry and porous. I have a found a bleach that gets my hair to my desired color that doesn't leave me feeling like I just burned the hell out of my hair!
So how did I go from this:

To this in a day? (I'm wearing MAC "Quick Sizzle" on my lips.)

It's actually a really simple process. I mix most (I like to make sure I have just enough left over for emergencies) of one 1 oz. packet of Clairol Kaleidocolors bleach in the blue packet (found at Sally's or online for roughly $3.99 a package) with 2 oz. of Salon Care creme developer level 30. Also found at Sally's for roughly $1.99.
Bleach! (It kind of smells like Blueberries, no lie.)

Developer! I prefer the creme version over the clear.

I sectioned off the top portion of my hair and my bangs and generously applied the mixed bleach with a tint and bleach brush starting from root outwards. (WEAR GLOVES!) I made sure to get as close to scalp as possible with the product getting on my scalp. After all product was applied to my hair and covering the pink I wanted to lift, I put a plastic grocery bag (I was balling!) on my head and sat with the bleach on my hair for 90 minutes, blow drying into the bag (medium high heat) every 20 mins. As soon as I was done with the bleach, and felt I got the lift I wanted, I rinsed my hair with Regis Silver Shine shampoo and then conditioned the crap out of it! (I find that toning my white blond hair turns it a weird orange/copper shade, so I avoid it!)
After all was said and done, BAM! White blond hair! I do have a hint of pink left toward the top of my head, but it gives my hair character and will be fixed in the upcoming months. I plan on keeping the top portion of my hair blond from here on out!
What's your favorite bleach for achieving white blond or blond hair?

Your hair looks amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, you look stunning! I almost gasped when seeing the second photo with your blonde hair. You're absolutely beautiful. The blonde really brings out your eye color. Awesome post, doll!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you so much! :D
Deletegreat job! You know I adore that lipstick on you!
ReplyDeletePretty much the best lipstick ever. aside from CYY!
DeleteI've always wanted white-blonde hair with burgundy tips. Thanks for the pointers. Oh, and I still contend that you look friggin' HOT with wet hair ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou should TOTALLY do that!
DeleteKaleidocolors is my favorite bleach...but I'm a purple girl. :o)
ReplyDeletePurple ftw!
DeleteYou can rock pretty much any hair color! Looks great! Fierce lippie!
ReplyDeleteThanks hun!
DeleteI think you look hot in any hair colour you lucky thing! I'd never go there. I have stupidly long, thick curly hair that's very dark brown. My hairdresser would kill me before he'd let me bleach. I can live vicariously through you, however!
ReplyDeleteI was terrified of bleach for YEARS until I tried this particular one. Now, after many failed attempts with other brands, I'll just stick with this one. It's achieved my goal every time!
DeleteThe Best Trick I Ever Learned
ReplyDeleteTo get temp dye out of hair fast: Dish soap. No lie. Dish soap like Dawn or something will it get it down to at least a very, very light pastel in somewhere between two and eight washes (eight was coming from a deep deep blue). It's drying but not nearly so drying as bleach.
Bonus: You will smell like lemons for a while. Always good!
(Once it's pastel, then you hit it with bleach. But the bleaching takes a lot less time since you're starting with a lot less color.)
Good advice! Thanks for the heads up!
DeleteI'd LOVE to have hair this white but where I've got such fine hair that's been dyed for eleventy billion years I'd be TERRIFIED of doing it to myself.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you experiment with a strand and see what happens? I'd love to see some blond/white strips in your hair!
DeleteI think I'm gonna try that bleach for my hair next time. The last kind I used fried my hair and scalp, I haven't touched a bleach since! I'm not so scared anymore :o) Thanks for sharing your tips.
ReplyDeletePS I love your hair and your face!
You must be psychic, lady. I am getting ready to dye and streak my hair, and the bleach I've been using burns the crap out of my hair. I will be using your method this time.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I love it, but then I'm partial to blonde with pink accents lol. It looks awesome on you!
ReplyDeleteJust a tip, for most people you want to start bleaching in the middle of the hair length, then do the ends, then the top and scalp. The bottom is more porous unless you just got a cut and the closer to your scalp the hair is the faster the bleach will develop because of the heat your head puts off naturally. If you start at the very scalp and work down you can end up with stripe-ey hair. Of course, this applies more to virgin hair. If your hair is color-treated you might find you need your own tricks because it can be unpredictable.
ReplyDeleteSorry I just realized my comment sounded all bossy-pants and I forgot to tell you stuff! I'm sorry.
ReplyDeleteI love your hair and I've been enjoying the transformations you've made with it over the past months.
I LOVE un-natural hair, I like bright and I like pastel, love it all really. Can't wait to see what's coming up!
You are cute <3 and your lips is beautifull
