Urban Decay "Alice Through the Looking Glass" palette!

Hi again Zombies!

Another post! I'm on damn roll. Get it girl!

For those who don't already know, the "Alice Through the Looking Glass" palette is on sale on the Urban Decay website RIGHT NOW for $34.00 (orignally $60.00) and so I snagged it so fast you have no idea!

*as always, please click the images for maximum awesome!

Urban Decay is also offering cyber deals all this week, so make sure you check back every day to see what they are offering. For example, today's deal was the original and anti-aging primer potions for only $8.00 each!

I received my palette earlier this week and decided to crack it open to show all of you wonderful people. To start, here are some photos of the gorgeous packaging! The 20 eyeshdaow are housed in a beautiful box with all kinds of thrills and magic. Once you lift the cardboard lid, you immediately see a nice sized mirror with "We're all mad here" engraved into it.

I felt my Wednesday Addams shirt went well with the theme. ;)

There's a two lovely flaps that can be opened and written on them is "I'm not strange, weird, off, nor crazy, my reality is just different from yours." This palette was seriously made just for me. ;)

a

Once the flaps are lifted, you're greeted with this gorgeous butterfly.

One last touch is the writing on the drawer where you pull the eyeshadow from. This saying is" I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I must have changed several times since then." *heart eyes*

This is what's hidden inside the drawer!

The packaging is gorgeous, yes, but let's take a look at what REALLY matters where.

You also receive a full sized dual ended eyeshadow brush with this palette rocking the same theme as the outside of the box.

SWATCHES! (I swatched over primer potion in "Eden".)

Can we please take a moment to oogle "Hatter", "Lily", "Heads Will Roll", "Duchess", "Dormouse" "Paradox", "Salazen Grum", "Metamorphosis", and "Cake"?! I mean really. These colors are absolutely, stunningly gorgeous! You can see for yourself that every color in this palette is unique and has a beauty all its own. "Lily" is one of my favorites because it's a lovely ivory with an intense pink shift to it. It is AMAZING as an inner corner/browbone highlight. "Hatter" and "Heads Will Roll" have my heart too because, green. DUH! "Metamorphosis" is another one of my favorites. It's such a beautiful periwinkle blue and the pigment is spot on. (Which is surprising because a lot of reviews I read or saw about this color were not favorable.) "Dormouse" and "Chessboard" are gorgeous transition shades or nice for the outer v or to deeper the crease. "Salazen Grum" is my hands down favorite color in this palette. It's a gorgeous shimmery pink/copper and it's so pigmented which paired with "Paradox" is one of the best combos I've ever experimented with! I also love "Cake" because...pink. Overall, this palette is just stunning.

The only eyeshadow that is actually pretty terrible is "Dream On". It's nothing but glitter and very hard to apply, even over a primer. I will try this with some sort of glitter glue or glitter eye adhesive, but I dislike this shadow and really feel the palette could have done without it completely. The flash of the camera does tend to pick up a lot of the glitter and some of the base color, but in real life it looks nothing like that.

I feel like because the palette is on sale now, you should all go pick it up! I don't know that I would have spent the original $60.00 on it, but for $34.00, I couldn't pass it up.

Now...here's a look for you using this palette. It's been way too long since I've played with makeup and posting the look! We need to make up for lost time.

The Goods:

EYES:
UDPP in "Eden" for primer
NYX jumbo pencil in "Milk" for sticky base
"Dormouse" from UD "ATTLG" all over lid for transition
"Salazen Grum" from UD "ATTLG" blended into outer v and into crease
"Duchess" UD "ATTLG" patted onto lid
"Lily" UD "ATTLG" patted over "Duchess" and used in inner corner and on brow bone also used on inner lower lash line
"Paradox and Duchess" UD "ATTLG" blended into outer bottom lash line
BH Cosmetics Liquid Eyeliner in "black" used on my upper lash line
L'Oreal Color Riche eyeliner in "black" in water line
random mascara

FACE:
Blush- Milani "Tea Rose"
Highlight from Colourpop "Flexitarian" on cheeks, tip of nose and cupids bow

LIPS:
"November" Ultra Satin liquid lipstick from Colourpop

Do you see some shades in this palette and you'd love to play with? Do you like the theme?

I'm over the moon!

As always, thank you for reading! Until next time!

Darling Girl Cosmetics "Queens of Horror" collection!

*some products in this post were a giveaway prize and gift from owner of DGC. All opinions are my own and 100% honest.

Happy Hump Day, Zombies!

I'm back with a new and exciting review from Darling Girl Cosmetics! This time it's the "Queens of Horror" collection, which I won from their Facebook giveaway (a full sample set). Susan, the owner, was nice enough to send me the lip products that go along with the collection.

Queens of Horror: This years Halloween collection is an homage to the baddest chicks in horror!

*This collection will be available on 09/12/2015.

There are 12 new eyeshadow shades and 2 lip products (one pucker paint and one Balm Gloss)

 New eyeshadow names and descriptions:

Eyes:
Do You Like Scary Movies? - Deep indigo base with green/pink iridescence.
Got Face? – Metallic pewter loaded with shifting pink to orange holo-sparkle.
Hello, Clarice - Dusty blue/grey base with indigo purple sheen and violet sparkle.
Hotel Hell - Dusty lavender/taupe base with violet iridescence, satin matte finish.
Married to the Macabre – Charcoal brown base with strong green sheen and a shift to a bronzey gold in certain lighting.
Onryo (Vengeful Spirit) – Shell pink with copper shimmer and green iridescence.
Possessed Princess – Chartreuse with gold sheen, purple shimmer and shifting blue to purple holo-sparkle.
Prom Queen – Reddish brown with golden bronzes iridescence and violet sparkles.
Queen of Scream – Peachy copper loaded with pink and gold sparkle.
Shower Scream – Teal blue with pink sheen and pink and blue sparkle.
The Bride – Blackened pine green base with green shimmer and silver iridescence.
You B*tch – Grey/green base with emerald green sheen and shifting blue to purple holo-sparkle.

Lips:
I’m Into Survival Balm Gloss 3D – Bubblegum pink with shifting blue to purple holo-sparkle
Mistress of Darkness Pucker Paint – Ruby red base loaded with violet pearl giving it a purple hue. The metallic Pucker Paints will look best if you lightly rub your fingertip or q-tip over your lips after the product has dried completely; this will bring the beautiful finish out and keep it from looking as though the color has settled into lip lines.

SWATCHES!

I took several photos so that you can all see just how AMAZING "Married to the Macabre" is. O.O

Lip swatches!

Obviously, "Married to the Macabre" steals the show with this collection. It's an amazing, in your face lime green on a dark base that changes colors depending on the light and angle. It's flipping gorgeous! Each color is unique and sparkly and I love the names. On par with DGC, the shadows are all very pigmented and easy to blend. "Shower Scream" and "Hotel Hell", along with "Married to the

"Mistress of Darkness" is also beyond gorgeous. It has a matte finish to it and it's an insanely pretty blue based purple. It wears well on the lips and isn't drying like some matte lippies tend to be. I also love the blue sparks in "I'm Into Survival." Because it's a balm, it's very smooth and creamy on the lips.

Overall, this is a fun collection with an awesome theme and great names! Be sure to grab some of these babies on the 12th!

If you'd like to see more of my "looks" and random weirdness, I'm mostly active on Instagram @makeupzombie and tend to do a lot of swatches there. Check it out!

Darling Girl Cosmetics "Who Ya Gonna Call" collection!

Good evening zombies!

Tonight I have for you the upcoming Halloween 2014 collection from Darling Girl Cosmetics called "Who Ya Gonna Call". Can you guess that it's themed after? ;) What a fun, sparkly and duo-chromey collection this turned out to be. Look for it in the shop sometime in September.

There are 10 new shades in this collection, each with a fun name and a unique quality about it.

Names:

The Tragic Death of Mr. Stay Puft
That's a Big Twinkie
Spiritual Turbulence
Don't Cross the Streams
There is No Dana
Ghost Job
Key Master
Mass Hysteria
The Flowers are Still Standing
He Slimed Me

Can we take a moment to talk about the absolutely amazing duochrome that is "That's a Big Twinkie", "Mass Hysteria", and "The Flowers are Still Standing"?! These are by far my favorites from this collection. "That's a Big Twinkie"  has a strong blue flash on the taupe base which I adore! Again, I love the blue sheen in"Mass Hysteria" making it an awesome blurple eyeshadow. "The Flowers Are Still Standing" glows gold from the inside out and shines with sparkles. I couldn't stop staring at it. "There is No Dana" (yes I may have added more to the name on my swatch) is a brilliant true gold with sparkles while "He Slimed Me" is a grassy green shade with a blue/pink flash. This color was hard to capture. It's so unique."Don't Cross the Streams" is an amazing navy/purple color with lots of pink sparkle. Again a touch shade to capture with pictures. You really need to see it in person! I could go on and on, but you can see for yourself how pretty each color is and how each shade is filled to the brim with sparkle! The colors are soft, build-able and so easy to blend which is a quality DGC is known for.

Stay tuned to my Instagram and Facebook/Twitter accounts to hear when "Who Ya Gonna Call" is officially released. I will make a post the same day. You can find me @makeupzombie on each site!

Do you see a color here that will haunt you if you don't purchase it? ;)

The Chequered Lily Apothecary Review and SWATCHES!

Good evening Zombies!

It's been far too long since I've dusted off my keyboard and did some blogging. Life has been crazy lately. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday (those who celebrate) and that everyone is healthy and happy in 2014.

To kick 2014 off, I figured I'd do a new indie review. I learned about The Chequered Lily from my friend (fiend) Sam, and decided to take advantage of a recent holiday sale they were having. I ordered two sample packs ($5.50 each)- 10 samples each and received 4 extra samples to play with.

The samples I ordered: (descriptions per Etsy store)

Hearts of Fire: Vibrant true red with red pearl and color-shifting blue-fuchsia-violet iridescent glitter
Lovesong: Metallic burgundy-red with red pearl and blue glitter and iridescence
Galaxy: Rich Metallic Violet with Fuchsia/Blue Colorshifting Sparkle
Under the Stars: Soft & Sheer Dirty Denim-Blue with Strong Gold Shimmer
The Penny Arcade: Soft Black with Copper Sparkle and Shimmer
Oxalis: Rich, grassy, clover green with loads of gold glittering reflects
Fairytale: Fairytale is a pale bluish-pink with purple, pink, and blue sparkle and red and turquoise reflects
Her Familiar: Bright Golden-Orange with Green-Gold Glitter
Dead men Tell No Tales: Rich blackened antique copper/bronze with bronze glitter
Snow Angel: Palest Frosty Lavender with Violet Sparkle & Sterling Glitter
Haunted: Velvety Black With Intense Violet Shimmer

Mrs. Peacock: Dark Golden Teal with Violet Sparkle.
Haute Cocoa: Medium Cocoa Brown with Intense Gold, Bronze, and Chocolate Glitter.
Circassian Girl: Black with Fuchsia Shimmer and Blue-Violet Sparkle

Monster's Bride: Plush Olive Green/Antique Gold Duochrome With Gold Sparkle
Hearts in Ice: Royal blue with subtle violet undertone and intense red iridescence.
Cursed Treasure: Richest metallic blackened gold with bronze reflect and green-gold glitter

In addition I received:

Fireflies: Inky Purple/Gold Duochrome with Green/Gold Color-shift
Cast No Reflection: Shimmery Blackened Silver With Pale Gold & Silver Sparkle
Snake Charmer: Blackened Green with Intense Green Shimmer and Green-Gold Sparkle
Love Like Winter: Icy pale blue with red reflect and crimson glitter

Swatches! (I did my swatches over Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy)

*Dead Men Tell No Tales

Yeah, so....do you see the awesome that I see? I was pretty speechless as I swatched the shades I received. Not only are the eyeshadow super smooth and blend-able, but the pigmentation and the sparkle in some of the shades is to die for.

Hearts of Fire and Fireflies for example:

I'm honestly having a hard time narrowing down favorite from the group. Each shade is unique and stunning in it's own right. I'm a sucker for purples, so Galaxy and Jareth V2.0 both stand out to me. Cursed Treasure and Pharaoh's Curse are both amazing and different golds. Pharaoh's has wonderful lime green sparkles within. Lovesong, Hearts on Fire, and Hearts in Ice are all from the newest Valentine's Day 2013 collection. Hearts in Ice is a great blue/purple duochrome that reminds me of Mephisto from Fyrinnae- but it's not as dark based and a bit easier to apply; as you can see below.

I'm completely and totally in love with The Chequered Lily's eyeshadow. Enough so, that I plan on placing another order tonight. I'm stoked to find a (new to me) indie/handmade cosmetics company that takes such wonderful care in the preparation and quality of their eyeshadow. Shipping took 4 days, including a weekend, from order to receipt. It was lightning fast! Sample size packs are $5.50 USD for 10 samples or a full size (1 gram in a 5 gram jar) for $6.50. There is definitely something for everyone at The Chequered Lily. I'd run, not walk, and go get yourself some. ;)

Have a wonderful evening everyone!

Star Crushed Minerals Review and SWATCHES!

Happy Saturday Zombies!

Halloween is getting closer! I can feel it in the air. This is my most favorite time of year, as you probably already know. I watched a hot air balloon fly over my house this morning, that sealed the deal for me. Fall is here!

Randomness aside, I'd like to introduce you all to Star Crushed Minerals- an Etsy based indie cosmetic company. I placed a small order a few weeks back during a Grand Opening sale, and the owner graciously added a few extras for me to try out.

All eyeshadow watched over Star Crushed eyeshadow primer.

Outside- direct sunlight

My thoughts!

I loved the cute packaging that everything came in!  Incorporating stars was a cute touch, so before I even opened the box, I was already slightly giddy. I'm a sucker for packaging which looks like great care was taken in it. Once I opened the box, my jaw dropped. I was expecting sample baggies and was pleasantly surprised to see all the jars nestled within the box. Each lid had the logo of the company on it, and there were sifter stickers on each jar.

Once I swatched the colors, I was pretty much hooked. I used the Star Crushed eyeshadow primer for the swatches and was pretty amazed at how pigmented each color came out on my skin over the primer. It also allowed for the sparkles to shine through in those eyeshadow that have sparkles.

I'm quite impressed with the eyeshadow that have a black base from Star Crushed. When you blend out the eyeshadow, the color shift is still strong and does not blend down to just black. I espeically love Black Garnet and Black Emerald because of this.

My favorites of this lot are:
Royal Blue. I mean just look at the shimmery blue!
Purple Tulip. I just love the gorgeous flash and shimmer in this eyeshadow.
Black Garnet. The PERFECT vampy, fall color. Freaking love!
Neptune Star. This eyeshadow is so pigmented and blend-able and the color is so very lovely.
Black Emerald and Black Amethyst. I love the flash of purple and teal on these black based eyeshadow. Gorgeous!

I'm really impressed with everything I received from Star Crushed. The eyeshadow are buttery and pigmented and really easy to blend. Hand blended to perfection!  I was very very happy with the eyeshadow primer as well. It made the colors hold true to how they looked in the jar and allowed the sparks and shimmer to shine! The eyeshadow also lasted a long time once applied over the primer. Primer ingredients: Ingredients: Olive Oil, Carnauba Wax, Organic Coconut Oil, Shea Butter, Grapeseed Oil, Micas.

Right now, Star Crushed is having a 50% off sale. I encourage you all to go grab a little something. Samples do come in jars, which I personally love. ;)  They also offer nail polish, blush, and foundation. Follow them on Facebook HERE as well!

Do you see something you that catches your interest?
