Happy Monday Zombies!
Last week, when my Mom and I (and the kidlets) were coming back from California, we stumbled upon an outlet mall in Barstow, CA. I squeed my pants when I saw a CCO within the mall. Rushing toward it like a kid about to enter Disneyland, I walked in, only to see that the only cosmetics they had was Lancome. *deflate* BUT, I did find some really awesome colors of eyeshadow and a couple lip glosses. The eyeshadow singles averaged $5.00 as compared to $17.00, as did the lip gloss. The most expensive thing I purchased was the eye shadow duo at $9.80. Originally $28.00! I can't believe how MUCH high end makeup costs. Thank goodness for CCO's!

I couldn't get any good swatches of these colors and so I decided to just do a LOTD with some of them!

Lips: "Stormy Pink" by Revlon with "Rose Nectar" on top
Cheeks: "Living Doll" by Hard Candy
Thoughts?
The colors were not as pigmented as the mineral eyeshadow I'm use to wearing. And for a retail cost of $17.00, you'd think they'd be more pigmented- ironically "Luring" is the most pigmented of the 4 singles. In the pan it looks gray, but it's a gorgeous light blue with lavender shift. I really do love it. I'm also smitten with "Trendy". They ARE very easily blended though and the quality seems to be good, so that was a plus. I also like the packaging. For some reason, I'm digging pressed eyeshadow more and more these days. The pans look a *little* bigger than MAC eyeshadow.
Both of the lip gloss are nice. Not too sticky, and have a light scent and taste. Rose Nectar has no color payoff, but Golden Rouge does have a nice golden shimmer on my lips.
Would I pay full price for these eyeshadow? NO. period. I WOULD check out CCO's and clearance bins for these cosmetics on sale though, because I do like the eyeshadow and would love to pick up some bolder colors.
What products of Lancome do you love and suggest?

I haven't tried Lancome, but I wouldn't mind doing so.
ReplyDeleteBah, I wish I lived near a CCO. One of the reasons I'm down with perhaps doing grad school in Tampa is knowing there'd be one nearby there XD
I have never tired Lancome eiher. I guess I don't know anything about them and am just not real excited about their products. Looks like you got away with some decent products for the price!
ReplyDeleteI think your look is gorgeous, but that's a shame about the level of pigmentation. I think I only own one Lancome product - a Juicy Tube - and I find it horrifically thick and sticky. :(
ReplyDeleteI used to work for Lancome. Their eyeshadows are okay, but I think my favorite thing in their line is their blushes. My favorite color is Shimmer Pink Pool. I don't even know if they still make it. Sometimes they discontinue stuff. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat LOTD. Very pretty!
Love the look you did, it's stunning!
ReplyDeleteBlarg, why is makeup so expensive? That's why i love all the online indie companies, way better colors at wayy better prices. But hey, if the expensive stuff if on sale, why not give it a whirl.
ReplyDeleteWoooow. Great deal for some high end shtuff! I agree, I would NEVER pay $17 for one eyeshadow. That's ridiculous. But CCOs are awesome!
ReplyDeleteCCOs are awesome. I like to purchase MAC and Bobbi Brown items there as well. As for Lancome, I don't think I've purchased eyeshadows from them yet. The colors look lovely on you.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous look and a great haul doll!!!

Loving these colors on you with that hair of yours! Looks so lovely (:

I like their mascara - it's called Hypnôse, I think! And pigmented or not, these colours look really good on you :)
ReplyDeleteI love Living Doll on you, looks great! Lancome's eyeshadow are a bit of a PITA. I know when I worked at Macy's, I hated getting makeover requests through Lancome customers, because the pigmentation was SO bad, it was hard to do much of a makeover, lol. It's not so bad with TFSI, but over their makeup base? Forget it.
ReplyDeleteCheck you out, fancy pants! I wish we had CCOs more here in the UK. I love how many Wendi colours you managed to get!
ReplyDeleteI recently bought one of Lancome's Color Design Palettes, the Coral one, and I love it. I've had a couple of their palettes before and was underwhelmed, but the Color Design is really, really good. And expensive. ($48 USD)
ReplyDeleteI like their lipstick, and I have a few things I need to test that I got as GWPs. Overall, I like the brand, but I only buy when Sears is having a GWP deal :P
Wendy, the best suggestion I can give you is for Ebay. You can pick up a palette with 7 smaller shadows in it for about $8 plus shipping. That's your best way to find colors which will work - these are the gift with purchase palettes. You can find the same thing with Clinique. I've just purchased a bunch on eBay because I'm liking the pressed shadows too right now.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you got an excellent haul, my local CCO is never stocked with good items
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stuff and gorgeous look! You're such a gorgeous woman! I used to love Lancome till I found out they test on animals.:( Wish they didn't so I could haul all this stuff!
ReplyDeleteI have Trendy and a few other eyeshadow colours and they're pretty good. I REALLY love the Colour Fever glosses, those are a favourite of mine!
