Feeling...Blogged down.

Hey Zombies!

I'm feeling a little "weird" these days about this whole blogging business. Do you ever start to feel like you're too involved with the beauty blogging community? Like you know too much about makeup, too much about someone's drama, dislikes, etc. TOO MUCH! And then I've noticed a lot of my recent posts have been swatches, because when it comes down to it, I'm too tired to do my makeup, which is the WHOLE reason I started this blog.

I adore doing reviews of companies and swatching beautiful colors, but what's the point of having them if I never use them?

That being said, I have decided to officially dedicate the next week to nothing but playing in my makeup. I'll be doing a new look each day. This is something I'm going to make myself do to rekindle my love with makeup. I don't like that I'm starting to feel like it's a chore. This is my "outlet" my "happy place." I refuse for it to turn in to something I "have" to do.

So, in the next few weeks, you'll see more "looks" as opposed to swatches. I do have a few reviews coming up, but I'll stagger them so they aren't back to back. I've also decided to only do reviews if I am contacted by a company. If I purchase makeup for myself, I won't feel obligated to review it, but I will do more looks with it. :)

Also, I'm going to start up a new theme for bloggers to contribute to. I don't know what the "look" will be just yet, but keep your eyes open for that too.

Happy Sunday Zombies!

  1. Ah, yes. Burnout. I haz it. (Or have had it, at any rate...) Setting my goal to use all of my eyeshadows in one year was initially a good idea. The problem hit when I kept buying more colors! :D

Every once in a while you've just got to shake things up a smidge. Here's to having fun again!!!

  2. dude, i know exactly how you feel. i've been feeling the same way, especially: "Do you ever start to feel like you're too involved with the beauty blogging community? Like you know too much about makeup, too much about someone's drama, dislikes, etc. TOO MUCH!" - i will realize one day that i've been focused on other peoples drama, or the way they are running their blog, and i'll have neglected posting on mine or trying to make it more that way i want it. it's good for me to take a deep breath, step away from the computer and remember why i started the blog in the first place.

anyway, i'm glad we e-met and can't wait to see what you've got in store!

  3. Word lady. I had a "to-do" list but I'm just gonna scrap it. We don't get paid for this, so no need to turn it into a job :) And I hate my actual job, don't need two of em! lol
I post schtuff when I post schtuff and that's when I post schtuff :D

  4. I haven't been blogging as much recently but I do miss it. It's not really any different for me, I still get to do my makeup most days, but I just miss discussing it with the lovely people I have met through blogging...

  5. Ooooh, looking forward to a new theme! I need to get more creative with my blogging, I've been a little slack. It's ok to get bored though, its not like it's our job or anything.

  6. Sometimes, I feel kind of irritated with blogging. Like a chafing feeling...it's not from feeling obligated though. I started my blog for my own pleasure and use, and while I hope that it will be somewhat helpful to others, I never forget that it's supposed to be for fun. That helps keep me nice and selfish. ^_^
But when that "fed up" feeling happens, I just take a break or cut back on posting. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that jazz.

I can't wait to see your makeup looks though!
And don't feel so pressured to do swatches. They're fun and useful, but your makeup looks are what will make your blog uniquely yours!

  7. I so understand how you are feeling! I feel like I have a ton of makeup and never get to do anything fun with it. I'm glad you are going to take this week to do some fun makeup looks! I'll be looking forward to seeing you looks!

  8. I understand how you feel. Get in there and play with your makeup and try not to think about what your readers want to see. Do what *you* want to do. That should help ya get your mojo back. ;) I'm looking forward to your 'looks.'

  9. It's strangely comforting to see comments that others are going through the blogger beauty blahs as well.

I love seeing your looks, but find your swatches very helpful. Do whatever you enjoy doing, or whatever you can squeeze in a little extra time for!!

  10. WHEW! I thought you were going to quit blogging for a moment and was going to be all "NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU DON'T LEAVEEEEEEEEE"...er, yes. That aside, I'm glad you're doing more looks! Your looks are always so creative and original (:

Looking forward to things to come!

  12. I totally get how you feel, dude. <3 Sometimes I will randomly feel bad for being behind on posting or commenting on posts, then I realise I'm being a bit silly because this is all optional and I do it because I love it. >_<

I'm looking forward to seeing your looks though, and the new theme :)

  13. I though going on my 2 month long no-buy would give me the blogger blahs, but I'm actually happy because I'm saving money and using all the things I've ordered but never touched. It really made me realize how many shadows I have that are all so similar, so I really haven't felt compelled to order anything at all!
