Is anyone else disappointed that October is over? For me this is the month of hot air balloons, changing leaves, fresh crisp air, my birthday and Halloween. After October it's all a blur. Thanksgiving, Christamas, New Years, OH MY! I really wish life would slow down just a touch. It's going too fast and I'm getting too old.
I received a Sephora gift card for my birthday and besides Nars "Orgasm" blush (I couldn't help myself!) I was lusting over a matte red lippie. I scoured Sephora but refused to pay the outragoeus prices for a lipstick, knowing that Revlon had some great matte red lipsticks. So, I picked up a red liner and a Kat Von D lipgloss that was on sale for $9.00! I then went to my local drugstore and purchased Revlon matte lipstick in "Really Red". Holy hot shit Batman, this lipstick is HAWT.
I also dug out my Revlon Colorstay liquid lipstick in Top Tomato to compare with the others. I am ready for a pin up look now if you ask me! I also think my "red" lust is out of my system.
I highly recommend Revlon Really Red and Revlon Colorstay in Top Tomato. They are both a little drying, so using a lip balm before application in a must. And if you want, add a gloss over. But if you want the matte look, skip the gloss with both of these.
I am on the fence about the Kat Von D lipgloss. The smell is a little medicinal and it's goopy. It also doesn't last very long. But overall, the consistency is soft. I wouldn't purchase this full price.ever.
And the Sephora Nano liner is a basic red liner and it really does stay on the lips a long time. For $5.00 you really can't beat the price or quality.

I have Really Red. I love the Revlon mattes, actually. I think I have just about every single shade in that collectino.

ReplyDeleteI actually have Stargazer 127 and I really love it. It is my go-to red lipstick: great staying power, non-drying, vibrant colour. I heard that the Stargazer formulas can be a bit hit-and-miss, but the lipstick I got (I think it's the new formula?) is stellar.

Now that is a bunch of great reds! I don't think I own a red lippie. I don't really have the lips to pull red off! But you on the other hand, look amazing in it!
ReplyDeleteThose reds are great! The Kat vonD gloss is much bolder in person (but not in a bad way). I don't have the balls to pull off bright red like that.
ReplyDeleteI dont have that particular shade, but I have about 3 other of the Revlon Mattes and I LOVE them. Theyre so creamy :D
